Stand By My Lady Soul / Don’t Play That Song (Soul Mates Edits)

This release brings together two flips that DJ ME and I built during our mentorship sessions—taking classic soul recordings, tightening up the groove, dropping in new drums, and shaping them into something that feels both familiar and new.

Side A – “Stand By My Lady Soul”

A Temptations / Otis Redding blend with a touch of Ben E. King, warm harmonies, and a driving groove. Heavy drums, clean vocal work, and a vibe that works in both modern and classic sets.

Side B – “Don’t Play That Song”

Aretha Franklin meets Lou Johnson in a bright, gospel-inspired edit with tambourines, vintage textures, and a punchy Motown feel.

The short-run 7″ features “Stand By My Lady Soul” on the A-side, backed with a soulful edit of “Don’t Play That Song” on the flip. Both sides include the full mix and instrumentals.

Special thanks to DJ ME for the inspiration and collaboration, be sure to check out more of his work on Bandcamp. If you’re interested in working on edits or blends like this, feel free to reach out (more info here).
