This weekend, Toronto is hosting its first ever NBA All-Star Game. Fitting since, over the past few years, the Canadian city has become one of the biggest cultural hubs in the world. Toronto is producing a new generation of artists, musicians, fashion designers, restaurateurs, and more that are changing the way the city is perceived.

In the past, Toronto’s been called the “Screwface Capital”—often by Torontonians themselves. Now, the creative scene is small, tight-knit, and blossoming. So, we spent a week in the Six getting to know NEEDS&WANTS designer Sean Brown, restaurateurs Kai and Levi Bent Lee of Fring’s, photographer Visionelie, artistsJazz Cartier and Daniel Caesar, city of Toronto councillor Norm Kelly, and even got to spend some time at the Raptors’ practice to chat with Patrick Patterson.

Get to know the city and the scene in 6 On a Wave: Toronto Got Next.
